Bobbie Hood Obituary

Bobbie Sue Hood
Bobbie Sue Hood, a trailblazing architect and mother, passed away last August, at age 84. Originally from Little Rock, Bobbie Sue graduated from Little Rock Central High School and Bryn Mawr College. She received a Master of Architecture from UC Berkeley in 1971. Bobbie Sue lived and practiced in San Francisco, where she co-founded the firm Hood Miller Associates. She worked on many notable projects, including the San Francisco Civic Center Courthouse, and designed dozens of homes. She was the first woman to serve as president of AIASF, and the first president of the SF Building Inspection Commission. Bobbie Sue was also a devoted mother. She is survived by her son, Jordan Miller (Alexandra Silveanu); daughter, Sophie Hood (Stephen Gikow); and her grandchildren, Nico, Zara, and Alden Silveanu Miller, and Thomas Hood Gikow and Sadie Gikow Hood.
A memorial will be held on Sunday, July 20, at 10 a.m., at the Center for Architecture + Design, 140 Sutter St., and by Zoom. Please visit https://www.aiasf.org/events/bobbie-sue-memorial for more information.
