Ernest Joseph Condon Jr.
11/26/1940 - 10/10/2025
It is with great sadness that we must announce the death of Ernest Joseph Condon Jr. at the age of 84. Ernest Joseph Condon Jr. transitioned after a lengthy illness and multiple battles directly related. Ernest Joseph Condon Jr. lived a life of dedication and service, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have known him. Ernest Joseph Condon Jr. and his Significant Other & Life Long Partner of 54 years, Valerie Johnson, reside in El Sobrante, CA. However, due to their most recent health issues and demanding medical needs, they were temporally residing in Newark at Alondra Care, where Ernest Joseph Condon Jr., passed away peacefully, comforted and consoled by and with his lifelong partner, Valerie.
Ernest Joseph Condon Jr. was born in San Francisco, CA to strong and loving parents who preceded him in death. His mother, Bennie Condon (Server) and his father, Ernest Joseph Condon Sr. Their strength, love and his own tenaciousness motivated him to explore his curiosity, seek knowledge, wisdom and an ongoing pursuit of education. Ernest Joseph Condon Jr. attended St. Columbus Elementary School and later graduated from Berkeley High School. Ernest's ongoing motivation and curiosity compelled him to further his education by attending both Merritt and Laney College. Ernest participated in various lectures and was involved in the instructional and ongoing classes that were of interest to him. With no real focus nor plan he completed so many classes he actually earned two degrees. Yet he still continued to enroll in classes and sought knowledge and wisdom through education. He was also very intrigued and actively involved with monitoring and research of various ancestry sources.
Although Ernest loved and enjoyed music of all kinds, he was the aficionado of all things related to R & B music: artist/s name, the bio, release and rerelease in the serenity of listening to his many playlists in his car. He was an avid collector of vinyl records, cultivating an eclectic collection that reflected his profound appreciation for music. BUT, he never forgot his interest in martial arts and his coin collection, which underscored his diverse passion and zest for life.
Ernest Joseph Condon Jr. was a man with no limits. Not just his interest in books and music, he also found joy in serving others. He worked for many years with the U.S. Postal Service. However, his last, almost forty years, were committed to Muni Transportation Services in San Francisco. He started as a driver and working his way up to Supervisor. His colleagues remember him, not only for his professionalism, but also for his warm smile and the kindness he showed to everyone he encountered. Ernest had an incredible ability to connect with people, making each rider feel valued and respected. Ernest's commitment to his work and the community touched countless lives and he left a lasting legacy in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
Ernest is survived by his son, Ernest J. Condon III (Harden) his sisters, Grace Condon, Celine Condon, his brother Richard Condon and his Significant Other/Long Life Partner, Valerie Johnson.
Ernest Joseph Condon Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Ernest Condon, his Son, Darnell Condon, his brothers, Michael Condon and Terry Condon.
He was many things to each and everyone who knew him, but always known for his kindness and honesty.
A celebration of life to be announced.
