Melissa Boyle Obituary

Melissa Boyle
01/31/1978 - 08/22/2025
Less than a year ago Melissa was inducted into the Marin Athletic Foundation's Hall of Fame. During the Nov. 2 ceremony, she stood at the dais and spoke to a rapt audience with humor, grace and a true joy for life, despite the cancer she was fighting.
The award marked another of her many successes in athletics, business and motherhood in a life that ended way too soon for all who knew and loved her.
Melissa Kate Boyle passed away August 22, 2025, in her home in Dripping Springs, Tex., after a courageous seven-year, roller-coaster battle with breast cancer that spread throughout her body. She was 47.
Born in Novato, Calif., on January 31, 1978, to parents Scott and Kathy Boyle, she was youngest of five siblings. She attributed her competitiveness and toughness in large part to her four older brothers, who would cut her no slack when she played basketball with them at the family home.
Melissa graduated from San Marin High School in 1996, earning Marin County Athletic League MVP honors in basketball. That year she also was named the San Francisco Examiner Metro Women's Player of the Year for the entire Bay Area. Her versatility as an athlete was wide, playing four years on the San Marin Mustangs softball team and three years on the tennis team. In her senior year she also was voted Student Body President.
She then went to Saint Mary's College of California in Moraga, Calif. There, she traveled with the Gaels women's basketball team as its game broadcaster. In her junior year she also played lacrosse before it became Division 1 program in her senior year. As a point guard she was ranked in the top five nationally for assists.
After graduating in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in communications and a minor in history, she worked several years in medical equipment sales in the Bay Area before joining Salesforce in 2011. She quickly rose in the ranks as a representative for the corporation's business management programs and services, working in San Francisco and traveling around the nation.
She was promoted to regional vice president for Salesforce's Service Cloud technology and then moved to the Austin area. Co-workers prized for her mentoring and fostering strong customer relationships. A natural communicator and connector, she was also a keynote speaker at multiple industrywide events.
If you could ask Melissa what her proudest accomplishment was she would tell you without hesitation it was being Mom to her three children. She was playful, fun, and endlessly loving. Friends and family recall her warmth, generosity, magnetic personality and an extraordinary sense of humor. When she entered a room you knew something fun was about to happen.
Melissa is survived by her daughter Poppy, 7; twin sons Cooper and Jack, 3; her parents; and her brothers Jamie, Scotty, Kenan, her twin Kevin, and their wives and children.
A celebration of Melissa's extraordinary life will be held at Our Lady Of Loretto Church in Novato on Saturday, September 27 at 1:30 p.m. A reception at the Jonas Center will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Camp OKIZU, a refuge for families dealing with a child with cancer, also the San Marin Girls Basketball Camp Scholarship Fund.

Melissa, What a beautiful soul. We met around 2005 on a houseboat trip with our mutual friend Chris. Your laughter, joy for life and sparkle was an absolute pleasure to be around.
I watched you flourish as we kept in contact on Facebook. Your children had the best Mom...your children were loved beyond measure.
To Melissa´s family, she talked about all of you often and what amazing Parents and Brothers she had.
I will miss you my friend.
Until we meet again Melissa.
