Richard Smith Obituary
Richard Melancthon Smith, age 89, died early Wednesday morning, March 12, 2025. Richard was born on July 26, 1935 in Glassboro, NJ.
Richard received his Bachelor of Art degree from Glassboro State College and became an educator for the Woodbury Heights School District. He taught there for more than 25 years.
Richard married Anna Johnson in 1956 and they were married for almost 62 years until her passing in 2018. Together they had 4 children: Richard(Charlene) Smith, Linda(Michael) Sottile, Laura Wood and Stephen(Sherry) Smith. He was also the grandfather of nine grandchildren (Joshua, Dominic, Michael (deceased), James, Samuel, Micah, Lydia, Danielle, and Stephen) and several great-grandchildren.
Richard loved the Lord with all his heart and served Him faithfully. He was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was also a musician, playing the piano and trumpet.
Friends may greet the family at the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ on Saturday, March 22nd from 10 AM to 11 AM. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Ferrell United Methodist Church Cemetery in Monroeville, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for Michael's Ministry, 354 North Main St., Glassboro, NJ 08028.

I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your father. I remember him playing the trumpet on Sunday morning. He was always smiling. Just be at peace knowing he is with your mom again. May god be with you and your families.
