Michael Haremza Obituary

Michael Haremza

December 14, 1949 - December 19, 2024

Michael Lynn Haremza, 75, of Shell Lake, WI, passed away peacefully at home on December 19, 2024. He was born on December 14, 1949, in Shell Lake to Raymond and Lorraine (Block) Haremza.

After graduating from Shell Lake High School, Mike joined the Wisconsin National Guard and served honorably from 1970 to 1976. His basic training unit was Company A, Battalion 128th Infantry in Menominee, Wisconsin, and he completed his advanced training at Fort Ord in California.

Mike held many careers over his lifetime, including lifeguard in Shell Lake, boat factory worker, and Plant Manager at Louisiana Pacific. He was also instrumental in the success of Eagle Forest Products in Canada, where he served as plant manager. Later, he worked as a consultant for engineered wood production, both nationally and internationally.

Mike enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting-especially with the dogs he personally trained, and watching the Green Bay Packers. He was a founding member of the Shell Lake Hunting Shack and took great pride in being part of that community. He thoroughly loved having his family visit at least once a year and made sure his children stayed in close contact. He deeply appreciated the company of his close friends.

He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Linscott (Brian) of Arlington Heights, IL, and Jessica Couri (Peter) of Wilmette, IL; his son, Raymond Haremza (Tracy) of Andover, MN; and his beloved grandchildren: Anna, Luke, Ashley, and Jake Linscott; Gabriella, Stephen, Benjamin, and Theodore Couri; and Ellis and Ophelia Haremza. He is also survived by his siblings, Steve (Karla) Haremza of OH, and Deb (Dave) Ekern of Shell Lake; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lorraine Haremza; his brother, Pat Haremza; and his sister, Judy Kallenbach.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Shell Lake, WI with Father Phil Juza officiating. Burial will be at the Shell Lake Cemetery immediately following. Military honors accorded by the Shell Lake Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Skinner Funeral Home in Shell Lake.
