E. Jones Obituary

E. Marston Jones III, 86, passed away on May 27, 2025 at Heartfields in Easton, MD. He was born in Los Angeles, CA on December 7, 1938, son of Elwood M. Jones Jr. and Marjorie Cameron Jones.

Just a few years later, the family moved to Westfield, NJ. where Marston attended schools. He then went on to complete his undergraduate degree at Hamilton College, Clinton, NY. He was accepted into the University of Pennsylvania Dental School finishing with his DDS from the Penn Orthodontics School. He was a member of Sigma Phi Fraternity and a third generation Eagle Scout.

Embarking on his orthodontic career and following his father's love of the Eastern Shore, Marston joined Bloxom Orthodontics in Salisbury, MD in 1966 as an associate then partner ultimately taking over the practice where he continued until retiring in 1999. In 2001 he joined the staff at the University of Maryland School of Orthodontics in Baltimore teaching one day a week until 2020.

Starting in 1968 until just a few years ago, Marston pursued his true passion of raising, training and running field trials with his Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, AKA "the boys", winning many ribbons and titles nationally and internationally. His history with the American Chesapeake Club is unsurpassed. He served on the Board of Directors, President from1976-1978 and the Advisory Board in 1979-80. In 2007, Marston was designated as the Lifetime Achievement Award winner by the ACC for the many years of service he provided the club. Over the 55+ year career, he owned more than 40 Chessies. Locally, Marston was also an active member of the Talbot Retriever Club.

He was an avid waterfowl and upland game hunter with duck hunting at the heart of it, always accompanied by one of his boys. Marston, in his spare time, took up decoy carving creating beautiful decorative birds including morning doves, ducks, geese and loons as well as working decoys.

Marston is survived by Carol J. Baker-Jones of Cambridge whom he married in 1999. He is also survived by his son E. Marston Jones IV (Jennifer O'Leary) of Berlin, MD, daughter Cory Jones Jackson (Everett) of Cockeysville, MD, granddaughters, Parker Roberts Phelan of Tempe, AZ, Liza Embry (David) of Englewood, CO and brother Richard Jones (Kumiko) of Austin, TX nephew Chris Jones( Neslie Cook) niece Catherine Hein (Michael) and a cousin, Connie Pillsbury (Norman) of Pasadena, CA and brother-in-law Russell S.
