Edward Gowe Obituary

Edward Albert Gowe, affectionately known as "Poppy", passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born October 4, 1942, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Lavina Gowe of Tilghman.

Edward was a native of Tilghman Island and worked as a waterman before retiring to be a painter. He also spent many years fishing peeler floats for soft crabs.

Edward had a passion for fishing, baseball, and collecting old oil cans and other treasures. He and his wife, Ann, would spend their weekends exploring antique stores. He had a love for children and spent many years coaching little league baseball. He also enjoyed visiting Fairbank Tackle, where he would chat with his local waterman friends for hours.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Ann, and their three children, Robin Monahan (Jamie), Kevin Gowe (Kathy), and Steven Gowe (Jackie). His grandchildren, Brandon, Kara, Hannah (deceased), Kendel, and great-grandchildren Addison, Marlyn, Bailor, and Mia. A Goddaughter, Kaila (deceased).

In addition to his children and wife, Edward had five siblings: Donald, Larry, Rita, Ernest (deceased), and Billy (deceased). A brother-in-law, George "Punkie" (deceased), a sister-in-law, Nancy, and their three children, Sara, Chris, and Phil.

Poppy will be affectionately remembered for his funny antics and his quiet, kind, and gentle demeanor.

In honoring Edwards' request, there will be no memorial service or gathering. The family asks that we respect Edwards' wishes and hold his memory in our hearts.

Memorial donations may be made to Talbot Hospice or Tilghman Waterman's Museum.
