George Raitt Obituary

George D. Raitt 92, of St. Michaels, MD, died peacefully on May 15, 2025. Born on March 13, 1933, he was the son of the late James and Anne Raitt.

As a native of the New York metro area, George graduated from Columbia University in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering. He was a Veteran serving 4 years as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps and 3 years in the reserves. He retired as a manager from Ingersoll Rand in 1998 and moved to St. Michaels with his late wife Janet in 2000. George enjoyed playing golf, building models, painting, and supporting his community through volunteering at Christ Church, various local boards, and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.

He is survived by his three sons, Douglas, John, and David (Diane Rusconi); three grandchildren Stephen (Natalie), Megan Fudali (Justyn), and Samuel; and three great grandchildren Vivian, Helen, and William.

There will be a private family memorial. In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, 213 N. Talbot St., St. Michaels, MD 21663 or https://cbmm.org/donate/
