Jack Swain Obituary

Jack Leonard Swain passed away on August 16, 2025, in Muskegon, Michigan. He was born on February 4, 1939, in Muskegon to Jack Oliver Swain (born John Allen Oliver Upthegrove) and Irene Theresa Gillette.
Jack had three children with his first wife, Darlene Johnson: Bradley Swain (Korinne), Jodi McCormack (Joe), and Gary Swain (Sue). He later married Carolyn Moore, who preceded him in death on August 15, 2014. Together they had a daughter, who survives him, Lorilynn Swain.
He began working at Harold's grocery store during his youth and graduated from North Muskegon High School. He went on to earn an Associate's Degree from Muskegon Community College. Jack dedicated over 30 years of service to Muskegon Consumer's Power, retiring as a plant manager from the Campbell 3 Plant in Port Sheldon.
Following retirement, Jack and Carolyn relocated permanently to Surprise, Arizona for health reasons. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies including golf, walking, woodworking, stained glass work, playing cards, camping, and traveling. Carolyn's close friends Issie Nielsen (Kim) and Shirley Gerry (Neil) became lifelong companions to them both.
Jack is also survived by his siblings: Frank Swain (Pat), LeRoy Swain (Margaret), Marva Schindlbeck, Joyce Suchy, Jim Swain (Doris), and Joann Beegle (Bill), along with his special friend Sandy Frank. He took great pride in his family and cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Living Water Bible Church, 460 Wood St., Muskegon, MI 49442, on September 16 at 10:30 a.m., with a luncheon to follow.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

Jack, working with you for 30 yrs at Consumers´ Campbell Plant #3, was an honor and a pleasure. Even though I was in maintenance, I found you to be a fair and knowledgeable Supervisor. Much more than that....you were a GOOD GUY! You made my job easier. God Bless You
