William Clayton Collins, affectionately known as "Beaver," was born on June 29, 1936, in Easton, Maryland. He began his journey through life with a spirit that would leave an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. William passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, at Talbot Hospice in Easton, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
A proud graduate of Federalsburg High School in 1954, William further pursued his education and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Washington College in 1958. His professional career spanned thirty years as a dedicated Civil Service Agent for the Government, where he committed himself to serving his community and country.
In 1959, William answered the call to serve in the U.S. Army, dedicating six years to military service, culminating in an honorable discharge from the Reserves in 1965. His commitment to his country was but one facet of a life filled with purpose and devotion.
William loved to make those around him laugh and was known for his playful spirit, often "Shooting the Moon" during his younger years-a term that encapsulated his zest for life and fun. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying activities such as fishing and hunting. His hobbies were vast, embracing woodwork with passion, and he often crafted items for his family and friends. Even into his 80s, he would spend time cutting wood and growing lima beans and sweet potatoes, showcasing not just his talents, but also his love for nurturing life.
He shared a profound love for horse racing, embarking on journeys across the country to witness the thrill of the Triple Crown races. A devoted fan of the Maryland Terps basketball team and the Baltimore Orioles, he knew how to cheer for his teams with enthusiasm.
William's proudest accomplishments included invaluable memories with his beloved wife, Patricia Ann Collins. Together, they celebrated 65 years of marriage on July 2nd, solidifying a bond that served as the cornerstone of their family. Their travels took them to every state in the U.S., including the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska and Hawaii, expanding their horizons and creating rich memories together.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; two treasured daughters, Lisa A. Rizia and her husband Junior, and Karen K. Eppehimer and her husband David; along with his cherished grandchildren: Katlyn N. Nabb and her husband Bryan, Justin W. Glessner and his wife Victoria, Sydney R. Eppehimer, and Jorja M. Eppehimer. He also embraced the joy of great-grandchildren, including William F. Nabb, Claire C. Nabb, Loudon W. Glessner, and a new baby Glessner expected to join the family in December.
William was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Smith Collins, his mother, Hazel Bennett Collins, and his infant son, Mark Kevin Collins. He also leaves behind the loving memory of his sisters: Elizabeth Liddicott, Kathleen Harper, and Lucille Collins. Each member of his family held a unique space in his heart, and his absence will be felt profoundly.
William C. Collins' memories of life were full of adventure, laughter, and unwavering love.
