Reuben Mohn Obituary

Reuben "Bud" S. Mohn, age 95, of Lakeville-beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and longtime Lakeville barber-passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family.

A lifelong Lakeville resident, Reuben grew up on the family farm in southern Lakeville, where he learned the value of hard work, faith, and family-values that shaped every chapter of his life. He proudly served his country as a Korean War veteran, stationed in Alaska as a tank commander.

Reuben was a gentle man with a kind heart, a steady hand, and a great sense of humor. His barbershop chair wasn't just a place for haircuts-it was where stories were shared, laughter echoed, and lifelong friendships were formed. His Lena and Ole jokes were legendary, and his storytelling was something the whole family looked forward to.

He was an avid fisherman and cherished his time at the lake, especially at his treasured place on Leech Lake, where memories were made with every cast and campfire. A vintage car enthusiast, Reuben also found joy in classic autos and the simple pleasures of a drive on a sunny day.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Ann Goedtel.

Reuben is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Berniece, who stood by his side through every season of life; children Bev (William) Sloan and Jeff (Tammy) Mohn, whom he raised with love, quiet strength, and unwavering faith; grandchildren Samuel (Ally), Cullen (Allison), Emily (Nathan), and Alexander (Lea), who adored his wit and wisdom; and great-grandchildren Warren, Alice, Cameron, Arlo, Wesley, and Walker, who brought him endless joy in his later years. He is also survived by his brother, Harlan (Chris), and many other cherished relatives and friends.

Reuben was proud of the family he and Berniece built-a legacy of love, faith, and laughter. His final days were a gift, surrounded by those he held dearest. The family gathered close, sharing memories, telling stories, and holding his hands-just as he had held all of theirs, so many times before.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Christiania Lutheran Church (Pillsbury Ave.), Lakeville. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM, prior to the service.

In honoring Reuben, we remember a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a man who made this world a kinder, warmer place.

His famous words to those he loved: "Love you lots."
