Jesse Hahn Obituary

Jesse Conrad Hahn

February 21, 1943 - June 19, 2025

Hattiesburg, Texas - Jesse Conrad Hahn, "J.C.", was called to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Jesse was born on February 21, 1943, in Biloxi, Mississippi. He is survived by his children Cindy Hahn Hall (Perry), Jesse Hahn (Shira), and Dusty Hahn Walker (Kelly); grandchildren Marley Hall, Preston Hall, Savannah Hall, Joseph Mantooth (Hannah), Chandler Mantooth (Hope), Dylan Bybee, Bailey Hahn, Logan Hahn, Tullos Walker, James Walker and one great granddaughter Mary Christine Mantooth. He is also survived by a stepbrother, David Williams (Michelle), special friends and caregivers Peanut and Dicy Breland, and Ruby Pittman, a number of loved nieces and nephews, especially his niece Nancy Currie Sudsbury. He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Mamie Hahn, a brother Daniel Hahn, a daughter Christine Hahn Mantooth, and his loving wife of 58 years, Rita Sue Johnson Hahn.

Jesse was a 1961 graduate of Biloxi High School, and a graduate of Perkinston Junior College. He went on to finish his education and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi. Jesse retired from a career with Southern Bell (Bell South) that spanned 30 years. He began as a Junior Engineer in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and held various positions throughout his career. Not ready to completely retire, he took a position with William Carey University where he served as the Director of Facilities with that institution for 8 years before retiring for good.

Jesse was also in the military, joining the Naval Reserves in 1960 as a junior in high school, then served in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserves. He was also a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard for 32 years and retired as a Major. His military experiences included services in the Cold War (1962-1966), the Dominican Crisis (1965), and Operation Desert Storm (1989-1992).

Jesse loved being on the water and fishing and never missed an opportunity to travel or go on a cruise with his wife and many family members. A loving Daddy and Paw Paw, he enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren and attending all their activities. May he rest in peace; gone but not forgotten.
