Donald Heldreth Obituary
July 15, 1932 - March 16, 2025
Donald Main Heldreth, age 92, of Rural Retreat, VA, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025. He was born in Wythe County, VA, on July 15, 1932, to the late Roy D. Heldreth and Rosa Hall Heldreth. He was a prominent farmer in the Rural Retreat community, a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, he was on the Board of Supervisors, a former President of the Farm Bureau, on the Rural Retreat Fair Association and he was a longtime Rural Retreat Indians and Virginia Tech Fan. He was preceded in death by son, Kirk Heldreth; sisters, Lotie Vinson, Maxie Arnold, Pansy Evans, Bernice Gunter, Zella Arney, and Jeanette Allen.
He is survived by wife, Tina M. Heldreth; children, Jamie Earles, Eddie Heldreth (Rita); daughter-in-law, Laura Heldreth; stepchildren, Crystal Cooley (Josh), Michael Shupe; grandchildren, Amanda Walk, Shawna Cook, Chelsea Heldreth (Ben), Janelle Gordon (Scott), Matthew Heldreth (Shelbie), Randall Heldreth (Emily), Chase Heldreth (Alexis); step-grandchildren, Alex, Ayden, Alivia Cooley, Kasey Shupe; several beloved step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at Lindsey's Funeral Home in Rural Retreat, VA, on Saturday March 22, 2025, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mark Noel and Pastor Jonathan Hamman officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Rural Retreat. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until service time.
