Jackie Maxson born on February 22,1934, daughter of the late Viola and Raymond Hager, passed away on August 25, 2025.
Jackie was a 1952 graduate of Adams High School and longtime resident of Adams. On February 7, 1953, she married Duffy Maxson and together the couple raised their 5 children. She was predeceased by her husband, “Duffy” Maxson, sister, Caroline Hungerford, sisters-in-laws, Adelaide Ramsdell, Lucille Cristi and son-in-law Timothy Osier.
A compassionate and kindhearted soul, Jackie spent a lifetime of helping and looking after others in need. If there ever was a doubt what she was thinking, with her witty sense of humor, she would set you straight.
Jackie loved music from the Big Band Era to country and anything you could jitter bug to. She enjoyed decorating her home for every holiday. Shopping was a favorite pastime and provided a “trunk load” of treats for the grandkids. Jackie loved her coffee and sharing conversation with friends but never during “The Price is Right”.
Jackie retired from Dairylea/ Great Lakes Cheese in 1996. She was always very involved in the community volunteering at the Rhode Center food pantry and delivering meals to the Seniors. As President of the 50 club at Country View Apartments, special events and residents’ birthdays never went unnoticed. She was also a member of the So. Jeff Chamber of Commerce and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 5344 Auxiliary.
Jackie’s life was defined by her love and devotion to her family.
Jackie is survived by her children, Tina Bell (Chuck) of Cape Vincent, Rocky (Sue) of Belleville, Kim Graves (Dan) of Mannsville, Tracie Osier (Scott Knapp) of Henderson, Teal Hallett (Mark) of Adams Center. 9 grandchildren, Amy Reid, Danny Graves, Bailey Graves, Kallie Browne, Aaron Knapp, Maddie Knapp, Cole Hallett, Whitney Hallett, Lucas Hallett and 12 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Jeff Backpack Program or South Jefferson Rescue Squad.
Please honor Jackie’s memory by paying it forward spreading kindness and helping others in need.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday September 27th for family and close friends at Carpenter Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville. Private burial to follow.
