Robert Elting Obituary
84, passed away July 10, 2025. Born September 1940. I'm gone, but don't feel sorry for me. I am in a better place. I lived a great life, did all I could with the time I had.
Born to loving parents, Robert and Vin Elting; a direct descendant to one of the oldest families in the United States. Born a force of nature. Proud to be a Marine. Driven to succeed in business, from starting a successful retail plant company, being co-owner of the area's largest chain of feed stores: The Feed Depot, to one of Florida's first licensed auctioneers and owner of the South's largest weekly antique auction, R.W. Elting Action Auctioneers. Later, with Darrell Bailey, the best business partner a man could have, we ran a weekly auction in Zephyrhills, FL. Enjoyed being a mentor, teacher and judge to many in the horse community as well as teaching the value of antique collectables, firearms, jewelry and my favorite, glass shade lamps.
Married a few times to some of the best women there are but it was always my faults that got in the way. Finally met the best, a person who could put up with me, my wife, Kristy Elting. I'm not sure what I did to deserve her; I loved you very much. My children, Valerie Elting Patterson and Robert Allen Elting, I never said this enough; I loved both of you deeply and was very proud of you. My two grandchildren, Taylor Patterson and Robert Allen Elting Jr.; remember, Honor is much more important than money. My three brothers and sister, who I tried very hard to drive crazy (and hope I somewhat succeeded), Geoffery Elting, Philip Elting, Stephen Elting, my sister, Catherine Elting; and nephew, Drake Elting.
A celebration of life will be held at East Thonotosassa Baptist Church, on September 13, 2025 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to Haven Hospice Chiefland Care Center.
