Phillip JONES Obituary

JONES, Phillip Wayne "Phil" Age 63 of Dickson, TN. January 15, 2012 suddenly at Horizon Medical Center. Beloved lifelong citizen of Dickson, where he worked for some 47 years, starting at age 16 at Fussell's Men's and Boy's Shop in downtown Dickson. Known for his contagious smile and his gentle kindness, he was a 1967 graduate of Dickson High School and received his B.S. in Business from Austin Peay University. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Ernest W. Jones and a brother, Ernest Ray Jones. He served in the U. S. Army for a short period of time in his life and did it proudly. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dickson. He was the loving husband to Gail Gentry Jones for 40 years of Dickson; father of Corey Jones and Brad Jones, both of Dickson; son of Minnie Lee Jones of Dickson; brother of Ronald Gene (Ronnie) Jones and his wife Marsha of Dickson; uncle to Cassie Jones, Tracey Correll and Travis Greer, and a great uncle to several. His remains are in the care of the Taylor Funeral Home, where visitation will be Thursday, January 19th from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., and Friday beginning at 12 Noon until time of services. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 20th at 2 p.m., from the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home, with Bro. Robert Cullom, Elder Larry Tarkington and Bro. Warren Medley officiating. Those desiring, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Gail, I am so sorry for your loss. Our community will grieve Phil's death as well. What an icon. My memories of Phil are mainly from my childhood and the interactions we all had at the bowling alley. He loved life. He loved to have fun. May you find the Lord's comfort in this season of life.
