Kent Tonks Obituary

Kent D. Tonks, affectionately known as "Gramps", passed away peacefully at his home in Victor, Idaho, on October 5, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born on April 4, 1945, in Rexburg, Idaho, and grew up in the beautiful Teton Valley alongside his triplet brothers. After graduating from high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Kent was a hardworking man who dedicated his life to his family and his community. Over the years, he worked for Union Pacific Railroad, Pepsi, Western States/Water Insulation, and the Teton Valley Landfill. After retiring, he continued doing what he loved-fixing and tinkering-by starting his own small engine repair business in 2010. An outdoors enthusiast, Kent found joy in hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and taking rides across the lake on the snowplane. He also enjoyed gardening and made the best raspberry jam. A devoted member of the Second Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Victor. Kent enjoyed serving others through many acts of kindness and church service. He was also an active member of the American Legion, proudly honoring his fellow veterans and his community.

Kent was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Faye Parsons; his daughter, Debra Joyce Tonks; his parents, Leland and Laura Tonks; his brother, Kyle Tonks; and his sister, Janice Tonks Krahn. He is survived by his brothers Gary, Chris, and Keith Tonks; granddaughters Melissa Wright and Melody Stinger; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 87 East Center Street in Victor, Idaho. A viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kent's name to American Legion Post 95 in Driggs, Idaho. Kent will be remembered for his humor, generosity, love of family, and devotion to the simple joys of life. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, service, and faith will live on in all who knew him.
