Robert Pierson Obituary

"The measure of a man is not in how he died, but in how he lived, and he lived a life of kindness, integrity, and most of all laughter and love." Robert "Bob" Griffin Pierson passed away on Monday, August 5 at his home in Florida after a determined and hard fought battle against an insurmountable opponent, ALS. Throughout this last year, Bob was ever hopeful and never complained. With his positive attitude, quick wit, and warm smiles, he was truly an inspiration to his children, family, friends, and most especially to his beloved soulmate and partner Karen Staats, who gratefully cared for him every moment with undying devotion and exceptional ability to love. Bob was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and attended Baton Rouge High School and LSU. He was preceded in death by his father James Francis Pierson, who died 3 months prior to Bob being born, and his mother Lucille Marie d'Aquin Pierson. Also preceding him in death was his brother James F. Pierson, Jr. Bob is survived by his son, Christopher Pierson of Athens, Georgia, daughters Lindsey (Ryan) McDonald of Athens, Georgia, Sarah Pierson of Dallas, Texas, and Caroline Pierson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; grandchildren Jagger Pierson and Andie McDonald. Joining their children mourning his loss are Susan Griffith Couch and Donna Melancon in addition to countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families who all felt a special bond with Bob growing up as one big family. Bob was a lifelong real estate Broker and Realtor practicing over 50 years with licenses in Louisiana, Georgia, and Florida. Connecting people with properties and homes brought Bob great purpose, as well as many hobbies he excelled in; cooking, golfing, fishing, gardening, and music. Above all else, however, he enjoyed spending time with the people he loved and cared for most. Bob has been an inspiration and joy as both father and friend, and he will truly be missed.
