Kenneth Lowe Obituary

Kenneth Lowe

Kenneth Eugene Lowe, 93, passed away on March 1, 2025, in Pleasant Hills, California. The son of John Austin and Bernice (Bauman) Lowe, he was born in Port Townsend, Washington, but grew up in Brunswick. He graduated in 1952 from Glynn Academy in Brunswick, received a B.S. in chemistry in 1956 from the University of Georgia and earned his M.S. in chemistry in 1958 from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He achieved the rank of Captain in the Alabama National Guard.

During his 40-year career in the pulp and paper industry, he held positions in Alabama, Michigan, and California. From 1973 to 1982, he was the editor and later the publisher of the largest pulp and paper industry trade publication, Pulp & Paper. He wrote widely on technical and marketing subjects, and was the author or co-author of numerous articles, books, multi-client studies and marketing publications, becoming very well-known in his field.

Kenneth's family remembers him for his kindness, his wry humor, his love of cigars and travel and his devotion to caring for his long-time companion, Connie Won Lee, during her final illness.

Preceding him in death were his brother, CMSgt John Allen Lowe; his sister, Nancy Ashmore and Constance Won Lee. Survivors include his sister, Audrey Bunkley of Marydel, Delaware; his nephews, Scott Bunkley of Pearl, Mississippi, Lee Ashmore of Brunswick and James Ashmore of Suffolk, Virginia; his nieces, Natalie Himes of Marydel, Stacy Cole and Suzanne Ashmore, both of Brunswick, Joanne Rodriguez of Queens Creek, Arizona and Donna Yani of Las Vegas; Connie Lee's son, Burton Lee and his wife, Lorena Liu Lee of San Francisco; and nephew Craig Loy of San Leandro, California, who cared for him during his final years.

Burial will be in Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick.
