Dennis K. Ragan, 78, of New Lisbon, passed away Friday evening April 25, 2025 at I.U. Ball Hospital in Muncie, Indiana following a courageous battle with cancer. A son of the late John and Lillie Pearl (Jones) Ragan, Dennis was born in New Castle, Indiana on June 26, 1946. He attended New Lisbon School and graduated from Straughn High School with the class of 1965. Following high school, he met the love of his life, Opal Pauline France and they were married at the New Lisbon Christian Church on June 11, 1967. Dennis was employed at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in New Castle for twelve years and retired from Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation in New Castle after thirty-one years of service. Dennis was a member of the New Lisbon Christian Church and the New Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed taking his old cars to car shows, archery, fishing, gardening and deer hunting.
Survivors include his wife of nearly fifty-eight years, Pauline Ragan; 2 daughters, Stefanie Ragan of New Lisbon and Michelle Jacquette of Ft. Wayne; good friend, Harold Pendergraft; sister, Ruth Huffman; nieces and nephews, Linda (Dale) Dodd, Bill (Susie) Huffman, Sherrie (Mark) Stanley and Mark (Trish) Swartz.
Dennis was preceded in death by his sister, Rita Swartz on March 1, 2022 and brother in-law, Jerry Huffman.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday May 1, 2025 at the New Lisbon Christian Church. Burial will follow at the New Lisbon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday April 30th at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel, and 1 hour prior to the services on Thursday at the church.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the New Lisbon Christian Church or the donor's favorite charity.
