Judith Rodgers Obituary

Judith Ann Rodgers, 89, of Cheboygan MI passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 12, 2025. She was born on June 7, 1935 to Bradford N Smith and Muriel F Smith in Detroit MI. Judy was raised in Detroit and spent summers at the family cabin on Lake Michigan in Gulliver MI. This is where she met her husband James when she worked as a waitress at Old Deerfield as a teenager. After marriage they moved down state to pursue education, careers and start a family. She received her teaching degree in 1967 and they moved the family to Gulliver in 1968. She spent her entire teaching career in the Manistique Area School District and retired to enjoy a comfortable life on Gulliver Lake and winters in South Texas. Judy moved to Cheboygan MI in 2012 to be closer to her 3 succeeding generations of family which brought her tremendous joy. Judy was an active member of Kiwanis and a member of the St. Paul United Methodist church of Cheboygan.

Judith A. Rodgers is survived by: son Gregg Rodgers; granddaughters Jacky Rodgers; Lynette DePeter-Schulz (Adam); and 2 great granddaughters.
Judith is preceded by her parents; husband James Rodgers; son Guy Rodgers; daughters-in-law Becky (Guy), Gail (Gregg); brother Brad Smith; partner George Videtich.

There will be a private celebration of life for family.
