Paul Perez Martinez Sr.

Paul Perez Martinez Sr., 79, of Bryan, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 25, 1946, in Bryan, Paul was the son of Merejildo and Guadalupe Perez Martinez. A proud American, Paul answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army. As a Specialist 4 with the 101st Airborne Division, he deployed to Vietnam, where he earned numerous honors including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Air Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal. His courage, dedication, and service to his country will always be remembered and honored.

After returning home, Paul began a long and successful career in the flooring business, retiring after 41 years of hard work and commitment. Known for his strong work ethic and devotion to family, Paul was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who always put his family first. He enjoyed spending his free time outdoors and traveling, especially with his loved ones.

Paul was married to the love of his life, Mary Martinez, for 61 years. Together, they built a life rooted in love, strength, and family. He is survived by his son Paul Martinez Jr. and daughter-in-law Beth Martinez, his grandchildren Sydney and Tyler Martinez, his sisters Janie Velasquez (Danny) and Ramona Hyvl. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Ventura Martinez, Bennie Ostiguin, and Sara Montanez; and his three brothers Margarito, Mike, and Claude Martinez Sr.

Paul will be remembered for his unwavering love, selfless heart, and the quiet strength he brought to those around him. He was a true patriot, a devoted family man, and a cherished friend to many. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 12, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Memorial Funeral Chapel, Bryan, TX, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St, Joseph Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors will follow at Bryan City Cemetery.
