Suzanne Dilthey Obituary

OTTO - Suzanne Morgan Dilthey, 93, passed away peacefully in her home Saturday, June 28, 2025.
Suzanne was born in Enoree, South Carolina, to the late Dumah and Doyle Savage Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Albert. They met at Auburn University, where she received a BA in education. She was also preceded by her brother, Harold Morgan, and sister-in-law, Estelle.
She taught elementary school in Key West, Florida, while Albert served on a submarine for the U.S. Navy. Following their move to Pittsfield, Maine, Suzanne began taking art classes. Under the tutelage of renowned painter William J. Schultz she became an accomplished artist and teacher. Over the years she taught art classes, gave workshops and traveled to various countries to study and teach. She was a member of the Pastel Society of America and a founding member of the Studio Alive group in Highlands.
Suzanne is survived by her daughters, Susan Dilthey of Newnan, Georgia, and Nancy Dilthey of Otto; and her beloved cat Sutton. Relatives include Nickie (Jimmy) Bass, Jane (Joey) Shealy and Paul (Amber) Morgan all of South Carolina, David (Donna) Morgan of North Carolina, Dawn (Robert) Shellock of New Jersey and David (Ruth) Dawley of Rhode Island.
We wish to thank CarePartners Hospice Care of Franklin and our wonderful helpers. They were and remain a great comfort.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 12, at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Tommy Jordan will officiate.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 70 Trimont View Dr., Franklin NC 28734 or Appalachian Animal Rescue PO Box 81, Franklin NC 28744.
