Mary White Obituary
Born: October 15, 1942
Died: July 5, 2025
Age 82. At rest Saturday, July 5, 2025. Late of Homer Glen.
Born in Joliet and a lifelong resident of Homer Township / Homer Glen. Member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lockport. Retired from Lewis University after 25 years of supporting students and staff at the College of Business and in the Office of the Registrar. Optimistic White Sox fan. Mary Ellen loved to cook and bake for her family, friends, and anyone who came to her door. Food was her love language. She could pull together a tea party or cheeseburger platter at a moment's notice. Family meant everything to Mary Ellen, and in her final days she stressed the importance of keeping the family together.
Preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Larry; daughter, Cathy Cozzi; parents, Theron and Hildegarde (nee Rogers) Doyle; brother, Jack Doyle; and faithful feline companion on her cancer journey, Joseph DiMaggio.
Survived by daughter, Cheryl (Bob) Martin of Mundelein; son, Brian (Janine) White of New Lenox; son-in-law, Mark Cozzi of Frankfort; five cherished grandchildren, Kaity (Alex) Steinman, Nick (Michael) Cozzi-Krumlauf, Jake (Margot) Cozzi, Carlee and Anna White.
The White family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center at Silver Cross Hospital, the Interventional Radiology team at Silver Cross, and the team at Lightways Hospice for their expert care and comfort on this journey. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lightways Hospice in Mary Ellen's name would be greatly appreciated.
Per Mary Ellen's wishes cremation rites have been respectfully addressed.

So saddened to read of Mary Ellen's passing. We were pen pals for the past several years sharing many past time memories from our high school years together. I will dearly miss her. She was a great friend as we shared our family stories, illnesses, our beloved animals, friends and the love of and belief in God. I know she will join Larry with happiness in her heart and a smile on her face. My condolences to the family and all who loved her.
