Robert Anderson Obituary

Robert James Anderson
Born: August 12, 1936 in Crystal Lake, IL
Died: February 20, 2025 in Gridley, CA
Robert (Bob) James Anderson Sr., 88, passed away peacefully at home on February 20, 2025. Born August 12, 1936, in Crystal Lake, Illinois to Earl and Loretta Anderson. Bob proudly served in the U.S. Army and during this time married the love of his life Joyce Abrath. Bob had an incredible sense of humor and never missed an opportunity to share a good story. His quick wit, warm presence, and knack for conversation made him someone people naturally gravitated toward. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.
He is survived by his wife Joyce, sister Leona (Bill) Rinn, children Robert (Patti) Anderson, Kevin (Cathy) Anderson, Kellie (Jimmy) Wynhoff/Haynes, and Colleen (Oscar) Reyes, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Maryanne and Lester.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church (451 W. Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL). Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park (7014 S. Rawson Bridge Rd, Cary, IL). A celebration of life will take place afterward beginning at 12:30 at Quarry Cable Park (5517 Northwest Hwy, Crystal Lake, IL).
