Charles Provenzano Obituary

Charles J. Provenzano Sr.
Charles J. Provenzano Sr., 102, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5th.
Born in Buffalo, NY, on October 18, 1922, Charles was a Norwalk High School graduate and proud honoree of the school's Old Timers Athletic Association. He worked for the Hat Corporation of America, his family's banana business, A. Williams and Sons, and later retired from Frito Lay after 40+ years of service. In retirement, he and his beloved wife Marion, married 66 years, enjoyed winters in Deerfield Beach, FL filled with golf, card games, and poolside happy hours at the Penthouse.
Charles was a devoted member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and joined the Knights of Columbus at age 19. He played baseball and was a member of the Laurels Athletic Club and golfed regularly at Oak Hills, where he proudly shot a hole-in-one and worked as a starter until age 97.
Charles is survived by his four children, Maryann Roberts (Norman), Barbara Tyra (Col. William D. III, deceased), Charles Provenzano, Jr. (Elaine) and Charlotte Albert, 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. His greatest joy was his family, and the tradition of Cape Cod summers and competitive game nights will carry on in his honor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Avenue, in Norwalk, CT. There will be no calling hours, and the burial will be private. To honor Charles's memory, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Charlie and I became friends at Oak Hills, where we played golf, talked about Norwalk politics and lauded the teaching careers of his daughter and my wife. He was a wonderful friend and loved his family so much. Rest in peace, good friend! Alex Knopp, former Norwalk Mayor.
