Eleanora Gambino Obituary

Eleanora Gambino
June 3, 2025
Eleanora Nina Gambino (Nora) passed away on June 3, 2025, in Brandon, Florida.
She was born on January 10th, 1949, in Brooklyn, NY, and was the daughter of the late Dr. Benedict F. Gambino and Antonina R. Gallo Gambino
She is survived by her brother, Salvatore Gambino and his wife, Rose, her sister, Nina Gambino-Salanitro and her husband, Alfred.
Eleanora is also survived by her niece, Anja, and nephews, Benedict, Charles, John and Michael. She absolutely loved how excited they would get whenever she spent time with them. Nora also had several grandnieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Eleanora grew up in Norwalk, Connecticut and earned both her Bachelor of Science and her Master of Science degrees at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut. Eleanora earned a dual certification in Special Education. Dual certification licensed her to teach Early Childhood levels Pre-K through Grade Eight and Special Education levels of age eighteen months to age twenty-one. Eleanora taught in both Norwalk and North Branford, Connecticut. Although Eleanora never had her own children, she felt honored by the students who remained in her life. Her relationships with her family and friends followed the same patterns.
In 2000, she moved to Florida. She designed her home in Compliance with the A.D.A. code (American Disability Act). ADA coding allowed her to live independently for many years. She would boast that she must have done something right as the teacher, family member and friend.
Eleanora enjoyed painting and drawing as well as writing poetry. She is the author of the book, "Like Other People©". Born with Cerebral Palsy, the book "Like Other People" tells about Eleanora's experiences living with Cerebral Palsy. It's written in both poetry and prose.
There will be no visiting hours.
A Mass will be scheduled at Saint Mary's Church in Norwalk, Connecticut, in the near future.

It comforts me to know that you're dancing with daddy in your red heels. I know you were tired. You had enough.
I'm not so sure if you knew how special you were. You touched many, many lives. The comments everywhere are more special than anyone could ask for. Rest peacefully NorzZadors!
May the perpetual light shine upon you. ..
(Speaking of light, please stop turning my nightstand light on during the night! I love you so much and I know you are all around me. No antics please :)

To Nora`s dear family, I loved her so much and she was so gracious and comical and loving, we shared many of phone call laughing and talking with each other. I will miss her terribly. What a beautiful person she was and I´m sure she´s finally free and happy on the other side with her family walking in those beautiful red shoes she always loved. My deepest sympathy, Lucy Peterson.
