Donna Johnson

COLUMBIA CITY - Donna Lou Johnson, 96, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at her home after a brief illness.

She was born on Sept. 25, 1928, in Wabash, Indiana, daughter of the late Edward M. and Elva Louise (Dawes) Reynolds.

She grew up in Wabash and Rich Valley, Indiana, and attended Linlawn High School in Wabash County.

Donna worked for the Whitley County Schools at both the Etna Troy School and Indian Springs Middle School, retiring when she was 89. During this time, Donna also went back to school attending Purdue University to pursue a nursing degree.

Donna loved to travel with her husband, Delbert and close friends, traveling out West and to the Navy Ship reunions. Donna and her husband also camped at the Barbee Lake Chain during the summer, where they met a lot of new friends.

She lived on the family farm for more than 65 years and saw many changes take place at the homestead. She was a woman of strong conviction who had many hobbies and interests, including crossword puzzles, watching old movies and listening to big band music. She was a self-taught woman of resilience and had a vibrant personality that will be missed. Donna always cherished her time with family and friends.

Donna is survived by her loving husband, Delbert Johnson; children, Larry (Catherine Wood) Alberding and Pamela (Phelim) Brady; stepchildren, Gary Alberding, Tim (Deb) Alberding, Deborah (John) Carlin, Sandy (Errol) Wysong Dunn, Debbie Fey, Robin (Delbert) Rhymer and Anita Koenemann; grandchildren, Tina (Steve) Konger, Tracey (Steve) Purdy, Terry Alberding, Troy (Dawn) Alberding, Craig (Kathy Carr) Norris, Brooke (Tim) Waikel, Jason Fey, Kristen Fey, Dale, JR., Brandy, Ashley and Jenna; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sibling, Jay (Barbara) Reynolds; step-siblings, Greg Reynolds, Julie Green and Darren Reynolds; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Ed Alberding; sister, Nanette Ames; stepson, Tom Alberding; and stepdaughter-in-law, Candy Alberding.

The family would like to thank the doctor and nurses at the Parkview Hospice Group Services.

Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, with calling one hour prior also at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be given in memory of Donna, to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Parkview Hospice.

Robert Wood

HUNTINGTON - Robert D. Wood, 94, of Huntington, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025, at home surrounded by family.

Born on June 2, 1930, in Coesse, Indiana, he was a son of the late Harold and Ellen (Judd) Wood.

He graduated from Coesse High School with the Class of 1948.

After graduation Bob joined the United States Air Force and served from 1950-1953. He was an air traffic controller and was stationed in Hawaii.

For 40 years Bob worked for the United States Postal Service and retired as a postal carrier.

In November 1991, he married Barbara Maloney Lowe at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, where they were members.

Bob's hobbies included golf and watching sports. His expertise in gardening showed in the beautiful displays of flowers he grew and his perfectly maintained vegetable garden. He was an easy going and good natured man who people enjoyed being around. He also had a great sense of humor and made people laugh. He was always willing to help anyone in need. His family was a large part of his life. His grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren were his joy.

Bob is survived by his children, Rick (Linda) Wood, Vicky (Matt) Snodderly and Brenda (Galen) Stoffel; grandchildren, Scott (Misty) Snodderly, Teresa (Jamie) Garner, Mark (Stacie) Snodderly, Daniel (Barbara) Snodderly, Eric (Megan) Stoffel, Nicholas Stoffel, Marissa (Patrick) Nelson and Jennifer (Chris) Turner; great-grandchildren, Tyler (Tori) Snodderly, Morgan Snodderly, Dustin (Bethany) Snodderly, Natalie Snodderly, Dominic Garner, Mark Snodderly, Virginia Snodderly, Lilliann Snodderly, Ryland Snodderly, Ian Snodderly, Madelynn Snodderly, Molly Stoffel, Lincoln Stoffel, Levi Turner, Kenzie Turner, Riley Turner and Owen Turner; great-great-grandchildren, Ariel Snodderly and Ziva Snodderly, with one on the way; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Wood.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara L. Wood; and brothers, Bill Wood and Jim (Ada) Wood.

Visitation was held on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, with calling one hour prior, also at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, with Pastor Scott Snodderly (grandson) officiating.

Burial will take place at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Cemetery, with military honors.

Memorial donations may be given in memory of Bob to St. Paul of the Cross Food Pantry.
