Daniel Leroy Kelly
Mineral Point - Daniel L. Kelly died May 24th 2025. He resided in Mineral Point Mo. Born at home on July 2, 1937 in Brownstown Ill., the son of Jacob S. and Vivan Evans Kelly. A graduate of Alton High School and Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville he combined a love of learning with the ability to create with his hands. A Master Gardner, Beekeeper and a woodworker he also served numerous terms on the Potosi Lake Village board, lately as Treasure. He was employed by Owens Illinois as a mold maker and later a data programmer. A member of the Missouri Air National Guard and accumulating two years of active duty with the U.S. Air Force, he retired with the rank of Master Sargent. A member of Franklin Lodge #25, the York Rite Bodies, Shriners International and a former Chapter Advisor to Alton Chapter Order of DeMolay.
On June 14, 1959 he wed the love of his life, Betty Lou with whom he would spend the next fifty-three years, and her absence following her death in 2013 was never filled.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his sister. Beverely Stone; brother, Dennis Kelly; and two brothers-in-law, John Bohn and Jerry Stone. He is survived by his son, Gerald Kelly of Mineral Point Mo., sister, Barbara Bohn; brother, David Kelly (Judy); sister-in-law, Viola Draper (Paul) and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be held on July 12, 2025, 1 p.m., at St Paul's Episcopal Church in remembrance of Daniel and Betty Kelly, Father Garron C. Daniels officiating.
The Illinois Order of DeMolay Foundation is designated as a memorial.
