Leroy Johnson
Dorsey - Leroy E. Johnson, 90, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025 at his home.
Born Oct. 22, 1934 in East Alton, he was a son of Edwin John Magnuson and Ida Mae (Eyers) Johnson.
Leroy worked as a carpenter for Amoco, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed riding around in his Kubota and was always in his workshop. He could fix and/or build anything, doing both for many family members.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sandy Johnson; his children, Stephen (Ardie) Johnson of Prairietown, Jeffrey (Andi) Johnson of Whitefish, MT, Lisa (Keith) Cook of Staunton, Craig Johnson of Troy, Cathy (Kerrie) Bogart of Kansas City, MO, Carol (Steve) LaCoax of Rosewood Heights, and Cindy (Randy) Harris of Edwardsville; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter; and a sister-in-law, Kitty Johnson of Rosewood Heights.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Paul; sisters, Edith (Melvin) Welborn and Violet (Charles) Clark; and brothers, Richard (Lela) Johnson and Floyd Johnson.
Private family services were held, with interment at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial donations may be sent to the ALS Association.

Mr. Johnson was a kind, patient, good man. I have many fond memories of spending time at the Johnson house when they lived in Rosewood Heights. I often think of the family after all these years. My best to all of you and sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss. I worked with Leroy at the Amoco Refinery, he was a great coworker and a master carpenter.
