Lois Shepherd Obituary

Lois Williamson Shepherd, 88, formerly of Kingston, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Heron House, Sarasota, Fla.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Mabel Williamson. She graduated from Ashley High School.

Lois had resided on John Street in Kingston for many years before moving to Florida nine years ago.

Prior to her retirement, she worked in the cafeteria for the Wyoming Valley West School District.

She was a member of the Dorranceton United Methodist Church in Kingston and was an active member of the Goodwill Sunday school class. She was also a member of the Irem Temple Ladies Auxiliary.

Lois was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Milan (Bud) W. Shepherd Sr., in April 2008, and her great-granddaughter, Olivia Grilly.

She is survived by her brother, Warren Guy Williamson, Sarasota, Fla.; daughters, Debra Grilly, Sarasota, Fla.; and Linda Kiefer and her husband, Bruce, Holden, Mass.; and son, Milan W. Shepherd Jr. and his wife, Jean, Ashburn, Va. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Christopher Grilly and his wife, Devon, Hopedale, Mass.; Joshua Grilly and his wife, Lisa, Pleasant Plains, Ill.; Aaron Grilly and Rebecca Herlan, Churchville, N.Y.; Jennifer Grilly and her fiancé, Chris Wagner, Burlington, Vt.; Emily Flood and her husband, Bryan, Gainesville, Fla.; Megan Kiefer and her fiancé, Bryan McDavitt, West Boylston, Mass.; Lauren Kiefer, Boston, Mass.; Barbara Kuzera and her husband, Kristopher, Denver, Colo.; and Patricia DeLong and her husband, Joshua, Glenside; as well as nine great-grandchildren. Lois also leaves many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with the Rev. Deborah R. Rose officiating.

The interment will be in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time on Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dorranceton United Methodist Church.
