Mrs. Ruth Ann Afman
Muir, age 92, of Toccoa, en-
tered into eternal rest on
Aug. 30, 2025, at her
daughter's home.
Born Nov. 20, 1932, in
Port Said, Egypt, she was
the daughter of the late
John and Jean Vanderslik
Afman and was the widow
of Peter Muir.
Ruth was a missionary
and served with her late
husband, Peter, for 47
years in Angola, West Cen-
tral Africa, and Portugal.
She was a member of the
Trinity Lutheran Church
in Toccoa.
Surviving are her four
children and their spous-
es; Beverly and Dale Gar-
side, of Toccoa, James and
Kaycie Muir, of Texas, Re-
bekah Muir, of Portugal,
and Janette and Roderick
Smith, of Ill; grandchil-
dren, Rachel Garside and
Lee, Kelsey Garside, Peter
Muir and Ashley, Meghan
Muir and Alex, Micah
Muir and Monika, Tomas
Muir, Camille Smith, Ian
Smith, Sophie Smith and
Abbie Smith; and six
great-grandchildren.
A memorial cryptside
service will be held at a
date and time to be an-
nounced later.
