John Swabeck

July 27, 1946 – June 16, 2025

John was born July 27, 1946 in Lemon Grove, California to Harold and Frances Swabeck. He had two younger sisters, Susan and Dolores.

At two years old, the family moved to Temple City, California. At the time the house was built, it was almost all strawberry fields. John would live in that house for over 45 years.

John liked to work and started at Startin's Television as a teenager. He then worked at Instrument Service Company and eventually purchased the company from the owner and his mentor, William Parker. After moving to Grass Valley in 1996, he worked in several local companies, continuing to use his skills as an instrument technician.

John and his wife, Becky, met on a blind date in 1980. They married November 11, 1989, and welcomed their son, Joseph, two years later.

After moving to Grass Valley, the family started attending First Baptist Church, Grass Valley. He worked in the sound booth for many years and was able to continue using his talents.

John is survived by his wife, son, daughter-in-law, two grandsons, and two sisters, as well as nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family, his church family, and his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Frances Swabeck.

A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church, 1866 Ridge Road, Grass Valley on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome.
