Ethel Woodmansee Obituary

EXETER - Ethel L. (Clark) Woodmansee 93, of Boone Lake, Exeter, RI, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Lowell E. Woodmansee for 69 years.

Born in Warwick, RI, on January 16, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Virginia (LaPlante) Clark.

Ethel dedicated much of her life to serving others, first as the head cook at Hope Valley Elementary School for 28 years before retiring. She then continued her commitment to the school community as a School Bus Monitor for the Exeter-West Greenwich School District. Ethel was a proud member of the Hope Valley Grange for many years. Ethel enjoyed weekend getaways, gardening, playing cards, doing word searches and shopping. Most of all, Ethel enjoyed brightening any room she was in with her charismatic personality and witty humor.

Besides her loving husband, Lowell, Ethel is survived by her daughter, Deborah Bednarczyk Kenyon; two grandchildren, Joshua J. Bednarczyk and his wife Amanda, and Rebecca Bednarczyk; as well as two great-grandchildren, Connor and Julia Bednarczyk. She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Wolstencroft.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St., Hope Valley, RI, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Burial will be private in Wood River Cemetery.
