Guy Cheek Obituary




Mr. Guy Inman Cheek Jr., 79, of Ellijay, passed away unexpectedly at his home Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

He was born Jan. 5, 1946, in Miami, Fla., to the late Guy Inman Cheek Sr. and Philapine Helms Cheek.

He graduated from West Fannin High School and later owned and operated Cheek Automotive and Air Conditioners.

He was a proud member of East Wood Baptist Church in Marietta and the Kennesaw Masonic Lodge. He honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He is preceded in death by parents; mother- and father-in-law, Edna and Romas Norton; and sisters, Joyce Collier, Joyann Bullington and Norma Pledger.

He is survived by wife, Kathy Norton Cheek, of Ellijay; son, Nathan Guy Cheek, of Ellijay; daughter and son-in-law, Kristi and Brad Borselmann, of North Port, Fla.; grandchildren, Aiden, Madison, Benjamin and Presley; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A graveside service was held Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Yukon Cemetery with the Rev. Pat Shelton officiating.

Military honors were by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

Pallbearers were Stephen Kirby, Chris Jones, Freddie Burnside, Tyler Setser and David Collins.

Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
