Gloria Wargin Obituary
February 1, 1943 - July 6, 2025
Gloria Pleasants Wargin, 82, of western Hanover County, passed away on July 6, 2025.
Born to Sylvester and Ethel Lloyd Pleasants, Gloria was raised on the family farm and graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1961, then James Madison University in 1965. She began her career teaching in the Fairfax County Public School System before devoting her life to raising her family.
Gloria was a devoted servant of her God, Jehovah, faithfully serving Him since her baptism on October 20, 1963. She cherished history and travel, found joy in tending to her flowers, and had a deep passion for caring for her children and grandchildren. Gloria encouraged those around her to live selflessly and think of others first.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Richard D. Wargin, and their four children:
Andrea Parsons of Goochland.
Dana Jordan (Andrew) of Mineral.
Claire Thurman (Brent) of Mount Airy, MD.
Benjamin Wargin (Siobhain) of Montpelier.
She is also survived by nine cherished grandchildren: William Jordan (Sheridan), Quinn Parsons (Felina), Cole Jordan, Zofia Lester (Logan), Reina Hughey, Addison Wargin, Grayson Wargin, Ruby Thurman, and Indie Thurman.
Gloria is lovingly remembered by her siblings:
Sister, Norma Harness (Robert) of Providence Forge.
Sister, Sylvia Farnsworth (Dennis) of Mount Jackson.
Brother, Randolph Pleasants (Julie) of Montpelier and Pinedale, AZ.
Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness lives on in all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at the Montpelier Center for Arts and Education,.
17205 Mountain Road, Montpelier, VA 23192, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, with a reception to follow. Interment in the Lloyd Family Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in honor of Gloria's lifelong faith and devotion. Donations can be made at www.JW.org or the Montpelier Center for Arts and Education.
