Kathy Collins Obituary

Kathy M. Collins

March 4, 1957 - June 26, 2025

Kathy M. Collins, 68, of Chesterfield, VA, passed away on June 26, 2025, following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved daughter of the late Paul and Maryanne Kinard.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Jan Collins; her son, Erik Collins (Christine); her daughter, Meredith McDonald (Paul); and seven cherished grandchildren: Eleanor, Amelia, Rosie, Caroline, Ginny, Austin, and Margaret.

She is also survived by her siblings: Lynn (Bob), Bill (Chris), Emilie, Joan (Phil), Bitsy (Fane), and Andrew (Carol). She was preceded in death by her brother, Tim (Sherri).

Kathy found great joy and purpose in her career as a Registered Nurse, serving in the Maternal Infant Unit at Chippenham Hospital and later at Johnston-Willis Hospital. She finished her career in the Perinatal Unit, where she continued to care deeply for the mothers and babies she served. Of all her roles, though, her favorite by far was being "Gran" to her seven grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 26, from 25 p.m. at Spring Run Vineyards, 10700 Spring Run Rd., Chesterfield, VA.

Jan, Erik and Meredith, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Kathy. She was one of the sweetest people I had ever met. She always had fun things for us to do as kids and was always fun to be around. Words cannot describe how wonderful of a person she was, and my fondness of her. May you all find peace during this time. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
