Johnnie Redding Obituary

Johnnie Gay (Horner) Redding passed peacefully in her home surrounded by love and care - "her wings were ready, our hearts were not".

Her loving husband, Mark, was her constant love and friend for forty-six years; he was her provider, companion with like-interests, her soulmate ... her caregiver in the later years.

Those left behind in grief include children Kenneth (Michelle), Jamie, and Daniel; grandchildren: Michael, Alyssa, Christopher, Kayleigh, Caleb/ Mason/ Emma and Audrey.

Her sister Marcy and brother-in-law Chuck, their children Debbie (Zack) and Charles (Franklin) are devastated by this loss. Immeasurably.

She had in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends who adored her and will not stop missing her.

Johnnie's interests: GOD, FAMILY, quilting, cross-stitching, board and card games, classic tv shows (Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, Waltons, Little House, etc), home making, nurturing, people-pleasing, list-making, soothing others in their times of need ... Mexican food!

Where ever she lived (San Diego, Washington, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona) she made their house a home. Decorating was her "thing". Usually in a country motif, with personal homemade touches, her home was warm and inviting!

She had a listening ear, caring heart, and gave THE BEST hugs! She was genuine, earnest, honest, sincere, loyal, understanding, patient, and put everyone before herself ... even to a fault. It was her nature.

She will forever be missed. Needed. Loved.

Johnnie, goodnight, sweet dreams, and may God bless.

My sister. My friend. It´s been almost five months. Yet every day I expect your call. Need your call. You calling me "brown eyes" and us catching up ... even though we just talked the day before. I miss your voice ... that beautiful voice. You were the best listener and most sincere, intuitive, compassionate responder.
Thank you for making me feel heard, appreciated, understood. You were sweet enough to tell me I did the same for you. We were `there´ for each other.
You are a part of me eternally and I still talk to you. I hope you hear me. With never-ending love, respect, gratitude ~ Marc

John. I am struggling with emotions now. Too many thought-directions, too many feelings to express.

For now I wish to simply thank you. Thank you for being you. You were my best gift when I was 5 1/2. I was so proud of you. Lil Johnnie was so sweet, so good, so cute. You never changed.
When the age gap closed, we were wives/ mothers together. We were there for each other, if only on the phone or in a letter.
I miss your comforting words, your smile, your giggle ... oh that giggle! There is a never ending list of what I miss about you. Thank you for loving me the way you did ... deep and true.
So many plans we didn´t get to do. I will concentrate, rather, on what we did over these 64 years.
I look for you everywhere. If you can, please send me a signal. I talk to you every day.
Thank you too for my Redding family. We are helping each other. You created an amazing family! I see you in them.
Welp, John ... this is written poorly, but you always used to say " you won´t mind, you get me"
THANK YOU for being the best sister possible!
I WILL ALWAYS MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU AND NEED YOU.
God has always been with you.
Now you are with Him.

Oh Johnnie, I miss you so much. 50 years together total was not nearly enough time. We experienced a lot of over the years, always side by side. Your love for God was deep . You always dreamed of being a counselor. You never really got to see that is what you were your whole life. No matter the situation or person, you always had the words that were needed to be heard. You left this world a better place because you were here. I will always be thankful I was holding your hand as you went home. Thank you for saying yes so many years ago. Enjoy your well deserved rest.
Mark

Very well said. My memories of Aubt Johnnie were that she was so kind and loving and CRAFTY! I remember she always had some craft for us. My favorite was the stained glass projects. God rest her soul.
