James "Jim" D. Chick

September 20, 1948 - July 1, 2025

James "Jim" D. Chick, 76, of Temperance, Michigan, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Jim was born on September 20, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, and was the son of James E. and Letha (Lahr) Chick. Jim was a graduate from Whitmer High School and then served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. He married Sandra Coffman on May 24, 1986. She preceded him in death on January 9, 2021. Jim was the owner and operator of Antique Furniture Restoration for 22 years. He enjoyed his aquariums, having many specialized fish through the years. He also enjoyed woodworking, a nice chocolate chip cookie and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren, which was the light of his life. Jim was raised catholic and recently made his way back to the faith.

He is survived by his loving children, Nicole (Joe) Marinelli, Brandon (Taylor) Chick, James (Becky) Chick, and Jamie (Tim) Geise; sister, Mary Margaret Grimshaw-Andrus; grandchildren, Theodore, Delilah, Elouise, Vivian, and Lewis; nieces, Pamela Grimshaw, Debra Incledon, and Melissa Gordon. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and step-mother, Cynthia Chick.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman), Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Bedford Senior Community Center or Monroe County Young Life. The family wishes to thank the entire staff and residents at Aspen Grove Senior Living for brightening his last 2 years with us.
