Patrick Okuley Obituary

Patrick William Okuley

03/16/1962 - 07/22/2025

Patrick "Pat" William Okuley, age 63, passed away at home surrounded by his family on July 22, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio, following a brave fight against cancer. Pat was born on March 16, 1962, in the same city he called home throughout his life. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend whose presence brought warmth and laughter to all who knew him.

Pat was one of eleven children born to Don and Mary Louise Okuley. He grew up surrounded by the energy and camaraderie of a large family-a foundation that shaped his generous spirit and endearing sense of humor. Though he experienced the loss of his father, Don; brothers, Mike, Chuck, Tom, and Dick; and sisters, Linda Bonawitt, Judy, and infant Theresa, Pat remained deeply connected to his roots and carried their memories with him always.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy; sons, Ian and Isaac; his mother, Mary Louise; brothers, Bob (Peggy) and Steven (Richard); sisters, Karen Knopp and Connie Mouser; as well as many nieces and nephews who cherished his generous hospitality.

Pat built a career in sales where his natural charisma and quick wit made him a trusted friend to both colleagues and customers. Whether helping someone out of a jam or sharing a hearty laugh over a Budweiser-Pat's hospitality and love for people shone through in every interaction.

A true enthusiast at heart, Pat found joy in Formula 1 racing, NASCAR events, Detroit Lions games, rounds of golf with friends, and spirited card games of "65" with family. He was also an avid foodie who loved cooking for others-his kitchen usually filled with the aroma of something delicious and the sound of laughter.

Above all else, Pat loved his family deeply. He cared for his mother with unwavering dedication and created a home filled with warmth alongside Nancy. His sons, Ian and Isaac, were the pride of his life.

To honor Pat's memory, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Ward Pavilion in Wildwood Preserve Metropark, in Toledo, on Monday, July 28, 2025. Guests are invited to gather beginning at 11 a.m., with lunch and remarks from friends and family starting at noon. A Catholic Mass will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Pat's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him-for his humor, kindness, loyalty, and zest for life. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.

As a neighbor to my father, Patrick was such a kind and warm person. I will never forget how excited he was for any chance to get on Lake Erie and fish for walleye. You will be dearly missed!
