Rita Friess Obituary

Rita May Friess

May 10, 1943 - July 25, 2025

Rita May (Snyder) Friess, 82, received her angel wings on Friday, July 25, 2025. She passed peacefully in her sleep. She is now in comfort and at peace after several years of medical issues.

Rita was born in Perrysburg, OH, to James and Norma (Hahn), on May 10, 1943. She was the oldest of seven children. Rita was a kind, caring, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a friend to many and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, baking, reading, and embroidery. She is well known for many of her dishes and her flower gardens. However, family always came first.

Rita is survived by her best friend and loving husband of over 62 years, Jay Friess. She is also survived by her children, Rob Friess, Pam (Bruce) Carpenter, and Andy (Jodie) Friess. She was the sister of Joanne (Mike) Tomaszewski, Margaret Snyder, and Joe (Michelle) Snyder; grandmother to Kevin (Shelby) Carpenter, Justin (Monique) Carpenter, Jacob (Erin) Borcherding, Lucas (Elizabeth) Friess; great-grandmother to Elijah, Sophia, Conner, Elliot, Everett, Frankie Ruth, and Delilah. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, June Canby; and brothers, John and Jim Snyder.

The family is extremely grateful to the Bay Park Hospital nursing staff, Dr. Ravi Narra, and Dr. Ajay Malik, for the kind and compassionate care to Rita during her final days.

Aunt Rita has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. The first wedding I ever attended was Aunt Rita's and Uncle Jay's. Every memory I have of Aunt Rita has been filled with joy. Despite dealing with a long period of illness, Aunt Rita always had a positive attitude. She definitely put family first. She will be missed!
