Alexander Sabo Obituary

Alexander "Sandy" Sabo, Jr., age 82, of Hainesport, NJ and formerly of Hamilton Twp and Medford, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Sandy was born on October 22, 1942, in Trenton, NJ to the late Alexander Sabo and Yolanda "Pat" Sabo (nee Molnar). Sandy grew up and lived in the Trenon/Hamilton Twp area before moving to Medford, NJ in 2003 and later moving to Hainesport, NJ in 2021.
Sandy was a graduate of Hamilton High West where he was known to his friends and classmates as 'Al' and was the pitcher for the Hamilton High West Baseball team. After high school he attended Trenton State College and also joined the U.S. Army Reserves. While he was stationed at Fort Drum (Le Ray, NY) in upstate New York, he met his wonderful wife, Mary. Sandy worked for United Parcel Service (UPS) as a Package Delivery Driver for over 33 years and was very proud of and loved his job. He acquired many friends during his career while driving the same route in Lawrenceville, NJ. He was also a proud member of the Local Teamsters Union 177. Anyone who knew Sandy, knew he was a huge Elvis fan, proud of his Hungarian Heritage and may know him and/or refer to him as 'S-22'. On any given day, you would find Sandy always representing his favorite number, whether it was on his shirt, a hat, a jacket, his car and even his computer chair.
Sandy appreciated the simple things, a nice green manicured lawn, a clean shiny car, a beautiful sunset, whether it was on the St. Lawrence River or LBI, the beach (because salt water cured everything), and a piping hot Trenton Tomato Pie. He was a Phillies and Eagles fan and enjoyed watching them play, watching his favorite TV shows, including "NCIS" and his daily game of solitaire. Above anything, he enjoyed his family, the holidays, the birthday parties, the picnics, the confusion and doing Hungarian szalonna (greasy bread). Sandy was a hard worker and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and just an all around 'great guy' who loved his family most, even more than an ice cold Keystone and cigarette.
Sandy is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary E. Sabo (nee Affinati); his 4 children, David Sabo and wife Christine; Lisa Schooley and fiancé Roland Krueger; Cris Bailey and husband Larry; and Kathleen Staub and husband Michael; 9 grandchildren, Benjamin Sabo; Jeremiah Sabo and wife Saber; Annie Sabo; Jessica Schooley; Carisa Restuccia and husband Mike; Jacquelyn Tuccillo and husband Domenic; Alexandra Elmendorf and husband Chuck; Anna Bailey and fiancé Brody Stejskal; and Connor Krukowski; 8 great-grandchildren, Sterling, Atticus, and Jericho Sabo; Michael, Avery and Dylan Restuccia; Olivianna Tuccillo, and Aidan Elmendorf; and by his brother, Thomas Sabo and wife Marla.
Calling hours for family and friends will be on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 4:00-6:00 pm at Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054 with a Funeral Service immediately following at 6 pm. Interment will be private.

Yesterday

May I offer my sincere condolences to the entire Sandy Sabo family. We were both from the Trenton area but Sandy and I met when we were in the Army during basic training at Fort Dix in 1964. We lost contact and as time went by, we hooked up and chatted from time to time on Facebook. He was always the gentlemen. I am so sorry he passed away. He will be in my prayers. My condolences to the Sabo family. I remember Sandy from the 80's working at Stacy in the Lawrenceville Shopping Center. He was the fastest delivery guy! He was always happy, smiling, and had a pleasant greeting! Sincerely, Elissa Horan

Sad to see this notice of Sandy's passing. Remember attending Lalor and Hamilton High School West with him. Growing up in Lalor Tract on Andrew Street connected many of us for the 12 years - graduating in 1960. We seemed to always remember each other at the reunions or upon meeting somewhere over the many years. We laughed and smiled with fond - fun memories of the innocence and wonderful times. I am so glad to have shared growing up during the 40's and 50's. May God Bless the Sabo family with the loving memories of a very kind and special guy "Sandy".
