Marianne Clark Obituary

Marianne Elizabeth Clark, of Lambertville, NJ, died on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington, New Jersey. She was 85 years old.

Marianne Elizabeth Clark was born in Orange, New York on February 9,1940. She grew up in Watchung, NJ. Marianne was a graduate of North Plainfield High School and a lifelong member of the Wilson Memorial Church in Watchung. She was a member of the church's hand bell choir. Active in the Girl Scouts, she cherished the memories of a European tour with the scouts, inspiring a lifelong love of travel. As an animal lover, Marianne had dogs, cats and birds as pets during her lifetime. She was a competitive, award-winning horse woman. A dedicated NY Mets fan, Marianne occasionally rooted for the Yankees. Marianne was a talented violinist and passed her love of good music to her children and grandchildren.

Marianne was dedicated to her family, a wife, mother and grandmother. She married Paul R. Clark in 1962 and together they made their home and raised their children in Piscataway. Marianne and Paul celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2012. A gifted cook, her lemon meringue pie being a family favorite. For many years Marianne worked at the Howard Johnson's in North Plainfield as a waitress, hostess and bartender. Greeting customers and making people feel at home was essential. She also worked in the bakery at the Acme in Middlesex and the King's Market in Warren.

Marianne was the wife of the late Paul R. Clark, the daughter of the late Melvin and Reubie Anderson Dahlin and the sister of the late Jon Dahlin. After Paul's passing in 2014, Marianne joined her daughter and son-in-law Sue and Phil McCloughan in their home in Lambertville.

Marianne is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sue and Phil McCloughan of Lambertville; her son and daughter-in-law Melvin and Patti Clark of Middlesex, NJ; her grandchildren Stephen McCloughan of Lambertville, Rebecca Ye and her husband Tom on Collinswood, and Jessica "Jessi" Clark of Somerset. At the time of her passing Marianne was looking forward to welcoming her first great-grandchild.
