Patricia Hook Obituary

Patricia "Trish" A. Hook, 92, of Fox Chapel, passed away peacefully Christmas Eve Friday, Dec. 24, 2024, in California, where she and her beloved Havanese companion dog, Zoe, lived with her daughter, Polly and son-in-law, Dave. Polly, Dave, her oldest son, David, and dog, Zoe, were at her side. Patricia is the daughter of John, an immigrant from Germany, and Anne (Ferry) Reiser, and sister to John T. "Jack" Reiser of Butler, PA. Patricia is survived by her dear sister-in-law, Jack's wife, Karen Reiser of Butler, PA. Patricia grew up with her father and brother living in the Henderson Estate gate house, in the heart of Fox Chapel, where they shared many fond memories. Patricia graduated from Aspinwall High School in 1951 and later went on to marry Melvin E. Hook, who graduated with a master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh and was the manager of the Fox Chapel Water Authority. Patricia, like her father, was not only an avid gardener but also loved the rich history of Fox Chapel. In addition, she enjoyed helping organize Aspinwall High School reunions and took pleasure in sharing time with friends. But mostly, Patricia looked forward to spending time with family and couldn't wait for their annual Fourth of July trip to Linwood Park in Vermilion, OH. Her life was defined by her love for family, friends, and faith. Married in 1957, Patricia and Melvin proudly raised and are survived by their six children. Three sons, David Hook of San Francisco, CA, John (Katherine) Hook of Fox Chapel, PA, Chris (Tammy) Hook of Mentor, OH; and three daughters, Lisa (Peter Gillon) Hook of Key Biscayne, FL, Marcy Derby (her husband, Chris, resting in peace) of Chapel Hill, NC, and Polly (Dave Lawlor) Hook of Murrieta, CA. Patricia and Melvin have nine grandchildren, Nicholas Springsteen, Brett Derby, Kelly Derby, Torri Derby, Bailey Magill, Colton Hook, Leah Hook, Emily Hook, and William Hook; and seven great-grandchildren, Jaxon Jones, Jett Jones, Kenna Jones, Cole Derby, Elle Derby, Madelynn Derby, and Devante Derby. The family will be planning a Catholic memorial service at St. Mary Church, Glenshaw, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the World Wildlife Fund.
