Barbara A. (Mitchell) Langham, 87, of Warrenton, Va., formerly of Irwin, died Saturday, July 17, 2021. She was born Oct. 6, 1933, in Altoona, a daughter of the late William E. and Estella (Garner) Mitchell, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Richard "Dick" Langham, and siblings, Dorothy Beman, Elizabeth Zimmerer, William Mitchell, George Mitchell, Richard Mitchell and Thomas Mitchell. She was a graduate of Altoona High School. She loved to play the piano and won local, state and national awards for her playing. She also won the Altoona High School Spanish award. She earned a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Dickenson College, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, the American Association of University Women and the Drama Club. She retired as a teacher's assistant for Westmoreland Intermediate Unit and was a lifelong member of the former United Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, Irwin, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. She was most recently a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church, Warrenton, Va. She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly L. Haney and her husband, Kim, of Warrenton, Va., and Diane E. Epperly and her husband, Wayne, of Fayetteville, W. Va.; her grandchildren, Amanda (Patrick) Finan, Lisa (Brendan) Wilson and Ricky (Ciera) Epperly; her great-grandchildren, Danny Finan, Cailey Finan and Parker Finan, and a baby Wilson on the way; sisters-in-law, Jane Mitchell and Peggy Mitchell; also many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. John C. Pressler, officiating. Private interment will be in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to Heartland Hospice.
