Donald G. Bales, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, died peacefully Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022. Mr. Bales was born July 25, 1935, in Alverton, the son of the late Frank and Grace Bowers Bales. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Don was a graduate of the former East Huntingdon High School. He had worked for Acme Markets for more than 20 years and then retired after many years as a dispatcher for the Allegheny Power Company. In his younger days, Don was an avid runner and a longtime member of the Mt. Pleasant Rescue Squad. He and his wife, Louise, enjoyed traveling, and then later in Iife, they could always be seen in town walking together. He was a kind and caring husband, father and grandfather and a friend to many. He is survived by his loving family, his daughter, Barbara (Ben) Veto; his son, David (Josette) Bales; his beloved grandsons, Alexander and Gregory Veto; his godson, DJ Rinaldi; his niece, Audrey Bell; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Rinaldi Bales, in October 2021; and by his brothers, Walter R. Bales and Charles W. Bales. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the GALONE-CARUSO FUNERAL HOME, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A blessing service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, followed by Don's funeral Mass at noon in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. Interment will follow in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery.
