Dorothy Opalinski Obituary

Dorothy Opalinski, 93, of Scottdale, passed away early Saturday morning, Feb. 18, 2023, at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg, surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Alverton, the daughter of the late Paul and Catherine Bugosh. After receiving home economics awards, and prior to having children, Dorothy was employed by the Anchor Hocking Glass Company, Connellsville, and Volkswagen Of America, New Stanton. And through her interest and love for the outdoors, she went on to receive a degree in horticulture from the Westmoreland County Community College. Dorothy spent the last three years in residence at Redstone Highlands in Greensburg, where she was known to always be smiling, joyful and cooperative. Dorothy is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her; her loving children, Jerry Opalinski and wife, Connie, of Irwin, Dave Opalinski, of Greensburg, Donna Garbera and husband, Dennis, of Pittsburgh, Randy Opalinski, of Herminie, and Kevin Opalinski, of Greensburg. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Andrew Opalinski and Nicole, Neil Opalinski, Stephanie Opalinski, Daniel Opalinski and wife, Karen Wagner, Ian Opalinski and wife, Laura, Julie Garbera, Kayla Garbera, Carly Opalinski and husband, Ronnie Grymes, Nicole Opalinski and Greg Garbera, her three great-grandchildren, Leighton, Lily and Nora Opalinski. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo John Opalinski, in 2001. Dorothy's family will be forever grateful to the staff of Redstone Highlands for their exemplary care and compassion shown to Dorothy and her family. Flowers are graciously accepted, and those who wish to remember Dorothy in a special way may direct gifts to Redstone Highlands, 12921 Redstone Dr. No. 1, Irwin, PA 15642, in her memory. Family and friends of Dorothy are cordially welcome to pay their respects from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, at the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, PA 15683.
