James Pallygus Obituary

James G. Pallygus Jr., of Connellsville, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 52. Born on Sept. 6, 1972, in Mt. Pleasant, James was a beloved son, brother, husband, uncle, and father. He was the cherished son of James G. Pallygus Sr. and Cheryl L. Bigley Pallygus of Scottdale and the loving husband of Catherine A. Hagerman Pallygus of Connellsville. His role as a father to his adored daughter, Evelyn K. Pallygus, of Connellsville, was one he held most dear. He was the brother of Anissa L. Stafford and her husband, Shawn, and Michael J. Pagliacci, of Scottdale. James graduated from Connellsville High School in 1991, where he first discovered his passion for education and learning. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Education from Geneva College in 1995, followed by a master's degree from Seton Hill University in 2002. James's commitment to education was unwavering, as evidenced by his more than 20-year tenure as a dedicated teacher at Connellsville, where he inspired countless students with his enthusiasm and dedication. He was a member of Pennsville Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher as well as a youth leader. He also held a position on the Missions Board. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop #107, where he received the Order of the Arrow in his youth and earned the Eagle Scout Award. James carried the lessons of leadership, service, and integrity throughout his life. His interests and hobbies were diverse, but all who knew him understood his deep love for computer games. He found joy and relaxation in the virtual worlds he explored, often sharing this passion with friends and family. Above all, James's life was anchored by his profound love for his family. He was a cornerstone of strength, support, and love for his parents, his wife, his daughter, and the extended family that meant the world to him. His presence was a source of stability and joy, and his unwavering commitment to his loved ones was evident in every action he took. James's legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and a zest for life that touched everyone he met. He will be remembered for his quick wit, his infectious laugh, and the meaningful conversations he shared with friends and colleagues. His impact as an educator will live on in the lives of the students he taught, who were forever changed by his guidance and wisdom. Family and friends of James are cordially invited to his funeral service at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025, at FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, with Pastor Robert Bixel officiating. Private interment will follow at Barren Run Cemetery, South Huntingdon Township. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of James G. Pallygus Jr., please visit our floral store.
