James Troy Obituary

James N. Troy Jr., 76, of Chester, Va., died Saturday, July 24, 2021. He was the son of the late James N. Troy Sr. and Virginia L. Aston. Jim grew up in Greensburg, where St. Clair Park was his second boyhood home. He loved playing sports and was a dedicated Pittsburgh sports fan. Surprising to his children, he was voted Most Charming in high school. Jim enjoyed playing golf, reading Shakespeare and bird watching. An avid gardener, he prided himself on having the best lawn and landscaping in the neighborhood. He had a knack for creating quirky nicknames for loved ones. Jim is survived by his loving spouse, Karen A. Troy; daughters, Dr. Terry Troy and Amanda "Mandy" Anderson (Dane); son, Dr. Jeffrey Troy (Rachel); grandsons, Sam and Evan Troy; granddaughters, Abby Troy, Isadora and Juliet Anderson; and sisters, Connie Elder, Brenda Miklish, Marcia Ciarimboli, Ruth Ishman and Virginia "Gigi" Fredley. Celebrations of life will be held in both Chester, Va. and Greensburg at later dates. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Troy's name to Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy Research Center, Massachusetts General Hospital Fund 028184, Development Office, 125 Nashua St., Suite 540, Boston MA, 02114.
