John C. Horrell, 83, of New Florence, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 11, 2021. He was born Sept. 25, 1938, in Fairfield Township, a son of the late John M. and Sarabel Luther Horrell. John was a member of the Fort Palmer Presbyterian Church. He had served in the Marines, was a member and past master of Ligonier Lodge No. 331 Free and Accepted Masons and formerly owned Horrell & Neiderhiser Inc. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Tembra Bennett. Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Antonizio Horrell; his son, Robert E. Horrell (Erin), of New Florence; his daughters, Diane Hohman (Jim), of Alexandria, Va. and Lorrie Bucklen (Todd), of New Florence; hislinebrothers, Luther Horrell (Margie), of Ligonier and Dave Horrell, of New Florence; six grandchildren, Maddie Roberts (Nick), Eric Bucklen (Alli Russell), Andrew Hohman, Emily Bucklen, Molly Horrell and Natalie Hohman; and two great-grandchildren, Luna and Opal Roberts. Visitation and burial in Fort Palmer Cemetery was private for the family. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2021, in the Fort Palmer Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Palmer Presbyterian Church, 4627 Route 711, Bolivar, PA 15923, or Action for Animals, P.O. Box 814, Latrobe, PA 15650-0814. MCCABE FUNERAL HOME, 144 E. My sympathy to all of the Horrell family and especially Betty. John was a great mentor and I will always remember his wit, humor, insights and his masterful piloting over the Laurel and Chestnut ridges.

John was a long time friend and classmate. He was always the life of the party and great morale booster to those around him. He will be missed by many.
